MY ENGLAND FOOTBALL: JOIN HERE

The new year is underway and an exciting few months lie ahead for all of our England teams in the second half of the 2024-25 season and beyond.

We already have major tournament schedules for both the women’s senior team and the men’s under-21s in their respective EURO competitions in the summer, with more teams looking to join them in challenging for honours.

We take a team-by-team look ahead for all of our teams and some of the key dates for each of them.

England men’s senior team

Thomas Tuchel began his new role as England men’s senior head coach on 1 January 2025, with his immediate focus being the start of the FIFA 2026 World Cup European Qualifiers, which kick-off in March.

The Three Lions have a home double-header at Wembley Stadium against Albania and Latvia to get things started, with ticket sale details already confirmed for those games.

After that, it’s a trip to Andorra in June before the qualification campaign comes to its conclusion next autumn with six games across September, October and November.

England women’s senior team

It’s a busy year ahead for the Lionesses, which begins in February with the new UEFA Nations League 2025 campaign. Sarina Wiegman’s team have been grouped with Spain, Belgium and Portugal in their league, with a trip to Portugal first up on Friday 21 February before they host Spain at Wembley five days later.

A home and away double follows in April before the fixtures are rounded off with the visit of Portugal and a trip to Spain in May and June.

From there, all focus shifts to the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 Finals as England head to Switzerland with the aim of defending the title they won back in 2022.

The draw for the group stage was made in December, with the Lionesses set to open their campaign against France on Saturday 5 July (8pm BST) before playing the Netherlands on Wednesday 9 July (5pm BST) in Zurich and the rounding off the group fixtures against Wales on Sunday 13 July (8pm BST) in St. Gallen.

England men’s under-21s

Just like the Lionesses, we have another England team looking to defend a EURO title in 2025 as Lee Carsley’s Young Lions head to Slovakia for the UEFA U21 EURO Finals. Following the draw in December, England will open their campaign against Czechia on Thursday 12 June (8pm BST) at the DAC Arena in Dunajska Streda. They then play their final two group games at the Nitra Arena against Slovenia (5pm BST, Sunday 15 June) and then Germany (8pm BST, Wednesday 18 June).

England will have preparation games for the tournament in March, with further details to be confirmed in due course.

England women’s under-23s

Emma Coates’ Young Lionesses are back in action in the WU23 European Competition in February when they play France and Germany on home soil with dates and venues to be confirmed. They will also have further matches lined up in April and then the May and June international windows.

England men’s Elite League squad

The Young Lions go into 2025 in a strong position in the European Elite League after remaining unbeaten in their six games so far this term. Now back under the charge of Ben Futcher, who spent the first half of the season as interim head coach of the MU21s, the ELS will have two more games this season when they travel to play Portugal in Leiria before facing Switzerland at the Marbella Football Centre. Dates and kick-off times for those games will be confirmed in due course.

England men’s under-19s

Will Antwi and his squad are aiming to seal their place at the UEFA U19 EURO Finals in Romania this summer, when they face three elite qualifying round games in March. The Young Lions cross the border into Wales for these fixtures, where they will take on the host nation, Turkiye and Portugal knowing that only the team who tops the table will progress to the Finals in June.

England women’s under-19s

After progressing through their first qualifying stage of the UEFA Women’s U19 EURO last year, Lauren Smith and her squad are gearing up for the elite league stage in April. England will play host to Belgium, Austria and Ukraine in those games, with the target being to reach the EURO Finals in Poland in June. Prior to that, Smith and her squad will have time to prepare together with three games in February against Spain, USA and Netherlands in Spain.

With no UEFA or FIFA competitions for this age group, Liam Bramley’s squad will be in action again during the March and May/June international windows with opposition and dates still to be confirmed.

England men’s under-17s

Neil Ryan’s squad will have an earlier start in 2025, as they have two games with the Netherlands in Portugal planned in late February ahead of their UEFA U17 EURO elite round games the following month. The Young Lions play host at St. George’s Park for those qualifiers, when Israel, Slovenia and Northern Ireland are in opposition with the prize being a place in the U17 EURO Finals in Albania in May for the nation who finishes top of the table. These games will also act as qualifiers for the FIFA men’s U17 World Cup, which will be held in Qatar later in the year.

England women’s under-17s

Natalie Henderson’s squad kick-off the new year with a trip to Spain for games with Mexico, Canada and Scotland in February as they prepare for the next stage of their UEFA Women’s U17 EURO campaign. The Young Lionesses head to Finland in April, where they will play the host nation, Sweden and Netherlands with the team topping the group heading into the Finals in Faroe Islands in May. The Finals will also act as a qualifying route for the FIFA Women’s U17 World Cup in Morocco in October and November.

England Para teams

There’s a busy year for our Para teams, which starts in the summer when the World Deaf European Championships take place in Pescara, Italy between 14-27 June. Later in year, there will be more major tournaments with the Powerchair EUROs, Cerebral Palsy EUROs and Partially-Sighted World Championships, with dates and venues all still to be confirmed.
