England’s victorious Lionesses were welcomed home with a reception at 10 Downing Street on Monday evening, after landing back on home turf from Switzerland.

Sarina Wiegman and her squad became back-to-back European Champions on Sunday night, after beating Spain in the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 Final in Basel and also the first England team to win a major tournament on foreign soil.

The Lionesses squad and backroom team departed their basecamp at the Dolder Grand Hotel in Zurich on Monday afternoon before flying back to England.

And following their arrival in Southend, the group were taken straight to Westminster for a Downing Street reception, where they were welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner following a group photo outside No.10 with their EURO trophy.

The squad were then clapped by Downing Street staff as they entered the house before they were taken to the garden.

England head coach Sarina Wiegman and FA CEO Mark Bullingham introduced the squad to the Deputy Prime Minister, who spent time chatting to members of the team as they re-lived a remarkable last 24 hours.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer who attended the Lionesses victory in Basel, was away in Scotland, but sent his best wishes by video.

The PM had previously met Sarina and the squad last month, when he travelled to St. George’s Park to wish them good luck before their departure to Switzerland.
