About the course

The Advanced Trauma Medical Management in Football Reaccreditation (ATMMiF-R) is an essential part of our Advanced Trauma Medical Management in Football (ATMMiF) training programme for those individuals who have successfully completed the two-day course in the preceding 12 months.

Annual refresher courses are considered best practice to maintain skill levels especially for those medical personnel who do not practice pre-hospital care on a regular basis.

The one-day course is an opportunity to refresh the ATMMiF content, update on changes in protocols and clinical procedures and an important opportunity to refresh practical clinical skills.

The course is practical based with no formative assessment. It is recommended that the re-accreditation course is undertaken on an annual basis, specifically at the one-year and two-year point following completion of the ATMMiF course. Please note at some levels of the game this course is mandated, please refer to your own league rule and regulations.

Course prerequisites

The course is for graduates of the ATMMiF program and equivalent courses and assumes a level of knowledge and competencies.

Therefore learners should be:

  • Doctors: GMC registration number
  • Physiotherapists: HCPC registration number
  • Graduate Sports Therapists AND registered with a recognised professional body such as SST, STA, STO or FHT: Sports Therapy Degree and Member of Society of Sports Therapists

How is the course structured?

This is a one-day course delivered through a range of practical workshops, with supporting demonstrations and question and answer sessions to meet all your needs.

What are the learning outcomes?

The one-day course is an opportunity to refresh the ATMMiF content, update on changes in protocols and clinical procedures and an important opportunity to refresh practical clinical skills.


Using practical based football scenarios the essential components of the course are:

  • A-E Assessment
  • Advanced airway management
  • Management of the critically ill or injured player
  • Spinal management in football
  • Management of sudden cardiac arrest in football inclusive of Basic Life Support (BLS) with Automated External
  • Defibrillators (AED)and Advanced Life Support (ALS)
  • Management of limb threatening injuries
  • Safe extrication of players


What you'll be able to do with this qualification

Our ATMMiF re-accreditation course is a form of refresher training which is taken at the year one and year two point in a training cycle.

The currency of the ATMMiF re-accreditation certificate for use as a first aid qualification is therefore limited to one year.
