About the course

The UEFA Pro Licence is the highest professional game coaching course we offer and is designed to develop highly-skilled and aspiring leaders, managers and coaches capable of creating sustained success in football.

Building on the technical knowledge you’ve developed on your learning journey, the focus is on developing winning team-leadership and management strategies that will challenge your knowledge and understanding of coaching.

Course prerequisites

This course has been specifically designed for anyone aspiring to work at the very top of the game in leadership and management positions within the Premier League, Football League, FA Women’s Super League, Women’s Championship and the international game.

Any coach looking to start this course must meet the following criteria:

  • Graduate of the UEFA A Licence and held for 12 months minimum, with priority given to applicants holding the English FA Award

  • Experience in a full-time position in the professional game in one of the following roles: coach, assistant manager, manager, head of coaching, academy manager, head of recruitment, technical director or player (minimum of five years' professional playing experience)

  • Advanced Youth Award is desirable

How is the course structured?

This course is delivered across seven modules over an 18-month period and across a learning programme that combines face-to-face learning with independent study and a minimum of six one-to-one coach development visits to support your learning through the season.

As well as participating in regular theory and practical workshops that use the latest technology and facilities at St. George’s Park, you’ll also be exposed to industry-leading experts who will share their insight from football and business.

You’ll also have the opportunity to attend a study trip observing an international tournament, using the event as a backdrop to further bring the themes and content featured on the course to life.

The course breakdown is as follows:
  • 1 day of assessment centre and profiling
  • 3 x 3 day modules
  • 2 x 2 day modules
  • 1 x 4 day final module with graduation
  • 2 x 1 day coach development group meetings
  • Study visit
Six one-to-one coach development support visits (minimum) are also provided.
