The England Powerchair squad were in action last week, taking on the USA in a double header at St. George’s Park.

The Para Lions – led by head coach Adam McEvoy who was appointed in October last year – played out a draw in the first match-up on Friday 18 July.

It was closely fought clash at the England base in Burton as it finished 1-1 between the two teams.

But it was England who were victorious in the second fixture on Sunday 20 July, which was streamed live via the Wheelchair Football Association’s (WFA) official YouTube channel from the Steve Daley Futsal Hall.

McEvoy’s team had to come from behind, having trailed 1-0 at the interval to Tracy Mayer’s USA side.

However, England pulled it back and three minutes into the second half, they had flipped the script. And the Para Lions went on to win 3-2 to end the week on a positive note.

Chris Gordon bagged a brace for the Para Lions, while Dylan Kelsall also made the scoresheet.

The friendly games, forming part of a week-long international training camp, served as preparation for the European Powerchair Football Association Nations Cup which is set to be staged in Italy in September.
