England women's deaf team suffered a quarter-final defeat against Ireland at the World Deaf Futsal Championship on Sunday morning.
Steve Daley's Para Lionesses faced off against Ireland in Palaroma and made a bright start to the game, taking a two-goal lead.
The first came when Maisie O'Shea drove a low shot into the box, which was turned home from close range by Lucindha Lawson with less than a minute on the clock.
And they doubled their advantage when Macie White smashed a fierce shot from outside the box to put England in the driving seat a few minutes later.
But Ireland pulled a goal back midway through the half and then squared things up before the break thanks to Laura McGuinn and Natalie O'Brien to leave the game tightly poised for the second half.

With England chasing a route back into the game, Ireland were able to take advantage to add a fifth through Catherine Grier before Lawson squeezed in her second of the game with a neat turn and shot with seven minutes remaining.
It wasn't to be for England though, as Ireland put the game out of reach with four minutes to go when McGuinn netted her fourth of the morning, to seal their spot in the semi-final.
England's time in Italy isn't over yet though, as they will now partake in two more games on Tuesday and then Thursday to determine their final placing of the competition.
