Divin Mubama reflected on a successful week with England men’s under-21s after scoring in both games of the November international window.

The striker, currently enjoying a loan spell with Stoke City from his parent club Manchester City, opened the scoring against Republic of Ireland in the Young Lions’ 2-0 win in Birmingham last week before bagging two goals in the 4-0 win over Slovakia on Tuesday evening.

"I like scoring goals,” he revealed. “And Lee gave me the opportunity to lead the line in both games, so I'm just grateful for the chance and hopefully I can bring that back to club level.

"I probably should've scored a hat-trick [against Slovakia], but like I said after the last game, you're going to miss chances and it's just about getting the next one and taking that.

"I study a lot in terms of positioning and trying to be a magnet to the ball and where the ball's travelling and it's something in my game that I'll continue to improve - being in the right areas and I'd like to score more than tap-ins, but it's all a bonus.”

Tuesday’s result in Slovakia saw Lee Carsley’s new squad finish their calendar year with five wins from five games in UEFA U21 EURO qualifying.

And the 21 year old believes there’s more to come from the group in 2026.

"As a team, we've done well but there's still little bits we need to iron out and that's normal as it's been our first five games,” he added.

“I'm sure we'll come back in March and look a lot stronger again with everyone getting more minutes with their clubs and we hope to push on.

"We can definitely manage games better at certain stages but we're a new squad and it's only been five games and we're only going to get better.”

Head coach Carsley was also impressed by Mubama’s performances in November, adding: "He's probably disappointed he didn't get more, he's outstanding at finishing in training and the way he practises, he's very deliberate with what he wants to do.

"We've got to make sure we keep creating opportunities for him. He showed real character the other night [v Republic of Ireland], after missing a penalty and then stepping up again to score.”
