Squad update: Finlay Herrick joins MU21s squad

Goalkeeper Finlay Herrick (West Ham United) has joined up with the MU21s squad for their game in Slovakia on Tuesday evening, to replace Elyh Harrison (Shrewsbury Town, loan from Manchester United).

8pm, Saturday 15 November 2025

During today’s MD-1 media conference, Thomas Tuchel confirmed Ezri Konsa will not be involved in Sunday’s World Cup Qualifier against Albania.

"Everyone was in training except from Ezri Konsa, who felt a tightness in the calf,” he said. “He stayed in London for further assessment. Everyone else will be in the squad."

Crystal Palace's Marc Guéhi has left the England camp and will not travel to Albania for Sunday's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

The defender joined up with the Three Lions at Tottenham Hotspur's training ground earlier this week but has returned to his club to continue his rehabilitation.

Thomas Tuchel will prepare for the trip to Tirana with a squad of 24.

Goalkeeper Elyh Harrison and forward Sam Amo-Ameyaw have received their maiden England MU21 call ups.

Harrison, on loan at Shrewsbury Town from Manchester United, and Strasbourg's Amo-Ameyaw have linked up with Lee Carsley's squad at St. George's Park ahead of the 2027 UEFA U21 EURO qualifiers against Republic of Ireland and Slovakia.

The pair, who were originally included in the England MU20 squad, replace Birmingham City's James Beadle and Leicester City's Ben Nelson who have withdrawn through injury.

The Young Lions host the Irish at St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park on Friday (14 November, 7.45pm kick-off) and travel to Prešov to face Slovakia on Tuesday (18 November, 5pm GMT kick-off).

Meanwhile, Jack Thompson, Braintree (on loan from Derby County) has been added to the MU20s squad to play Japan in Doncaster.

Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah and Manchester City’s James Trafford have been added to the England squad.

This follows the withdrawal of Newcastle United duo Anthony Gordon and Nick Pope through injury and concussion respectively.

Crystal Palace’s Marc Guéhi has reported for international duty and will continue to be assessed in the coming days.

The Three Lions squad are based at Tottenham Hotspur’s training ground as they prepare for Thursday’s visit of Serbia to Wembley followed by Sunday’s final qualifier away to Albania.

George Pickford (Everton), Josh Ajala (West Ham United) and Harrison McMahon (Chelsea) have been called into the men's under-20s squad to face Japan. They replace Law McCabe (Plymouth Argyle, loan from Middlesbrough), Charlie Gray (Manchester City) and Ted Curd (Chelsea).

Samuel Amissah (Fulham) has been called into the England men's under-19s squad for their U19 EURO qualifiers, to replace Jay Robinson (Southampton) has withdrawn due to injury.
