The 12th episode of That Lionesses Podcast connected by EE is live, with Alex Greenwood and Khiara Keating joining Harriet Rose in the studio.

If you haven't tuned in yet, here are five talking points you may have missed.

Generational differences

First up, Harriet asked Greenwood what the differences are between the more experienced members of the squad, like herself, and the younger generation, of which Keating is a member.

"You’ve got to have that freshness in the group," Greenwood said. "It's important. The balance of the experience and the first-time experience blends really nicely.

"They've got their groups and do whatever they do. I don't even want to know!"

The Lionesses discuss Wednesday's game against the Netherlands, their relationship, and Greenwood's century of caps.

Bringing the energy

Greenwood was also full of praise for the energy that Keating brings to the group, particularly in the wake of Saturday’s opening EURO 2025 defeat to France.

"Of course she feels defeat with us but she manages to bring that personality through," the Manchester City said. "She brings a lot of energy to the team."

Keating replied: "Everyone has a different role in the team. I might not be starting but if I can bring the energy when people are disappointed, I've just got to do my bit."

Hundred up

Saturday’s game was a special one for Greenwood on an individual note as she brought up her 100th cap for the Lionesses, 11 years after making her debut.

The centurion said: "I'm really proud. When I got to 50, I remember thinking there’s not a chance I’ve got 50 more in me.

"Obviously around 96, 97, you become a bit more aware of it. Not many players get to say they've played 100 games for their country and it's a real honour."

"She's always had my back"

Greenwood and Keating are team-mates at City, with the goalkeeper revealing she has been looked after by the senior pro ever since she arrived at the club.

"I turned up however many years ago at City, when I was a little baby, and she always took me under her wing.

"She's honestly just the best person. I couldn't ask for anyone else to be my captain at the club and it's lovely to have her here because it just feels like home."

Looking ahead

The squad have reacted well to Saturday’s result, Greenwood revealed, with a real belief in the camp that things can be turned around against The Netherlands on Wednesday.

"No tournament is won or lost in the first game," the 100-cap defender said. "We will review the game honestly, improve, and we know we have to win. That would have been the mentality of the group anyway.

"The group has a natural way of doing that and we have reviewed the France game honestly."
