England squad update: WU23 and WU19 changes

All of the latest updates to our England women's squads in action during the October 2024 international window

12pm, Tuesday 22 October

Manchester United defender Holly Deering has been called up to the England WU19 squad, replacing Aston Villa's Mia Sorrentino. The Young Lionesses begin the 2024-25 season on Friday when they face the Netherlands in the Algarve Cup.

3pm, Monday 21 October

Freya Godfrey and Ashanti Akpan have been called up the England WU23s squad for the October international window.

The duo replace Missy Goodwin and Maisie Symonds who have withdrawn with injury.

Emma Coates’ side kick off the 2024-25 season away to the Netherlands on Thursday 24 October, before welcoming Portugal to Shrewsbury Town’s Crowd Meadow Stadium on Tuesday 29 October, which tickets are still on sale for.

And Brighton & Hove Albion's Jessica Pegram has been called up to the England WU19s squad for the Algarve Cup. The defender replaces Arsenal’s Katie Reid who has withdrawn.

The WU19s have two matches against the Netherlands on Friday 25 October and Monday 28 October, in Lauren Smith’s first camp as head coach.

5.45pm, Sunday 20 October

Lauren James has withdrawn from the England squad for the forthcoming October internationals.

James will stay with Chelsea for treatment as she continues to recuperate from a calf injury.

No further additions are planned at this moment in time.

The 24-player squad will join up at St. George’s Park on Monday, as they look ahead to home fixtures against Germany at Wembley Stadium on Friday 25 October and South Africa at the home of Coventry City on Tuesday 29 October.
