The Para Lions agonisingly lost their quarter-final against Ukraine on Sunday on penalties, after holding the world champions to a 0-0 draw.

And that meant they would meet Germany in their first ranking match as the competing nations play out to decide the final positions.

It was a thumping win for Andy Smith’s side too, as they opened the scoring after eleven minutes thanks to captain David Porcher.

Sam Dewhirst doubled their lead on the half-hour mark just before the break to put England in command before half-time substitute Matthew Robinson made it 3-0 early into the second half.

Dewhirst added his second goal of the afternoon in the 54th minute before another substitute Aaron Lucas rounded the scoring off with three minutes to go.

England will now play their final game for fifth-sixth place on Friday.
