The Lionesses renew acquaintances with Norway in their final game of 2022, when the sides meet in Spain for an international match.
It comes just a few months after their last encounter, which was a stunning 8-0 win for England in a group stage game in Brighton at UEFA Women's EURO 2022.

● England lost eleven of their first 12 games against Norway in all competitions (D1), but have since won six of their last nine clashes, losing only twice in the process (D1).
● In Sarina Wiegman’s only previous encounter against Norway as England manager, the Lionesses ran out 8-0 winners at last summer’s European Championships – it was one goal more than England had registered in their previous five meetings with Norway (7).
● Norway have won nine of their 13 matches against England played outside of the United Kingdom (D1 L3), with this their first such meeting since September 2019 in a friendly played in Bergen (2-1 win for Norway).
● England have won all seven of their matches played outside of the United Kingdom under Sarina Wiegman by an aggregate score of 45-0.
● England have contested 25 matches under manager Sarina Wiegman and are yet to lose under the Dutchwoman (W22 D3) – scoring 124 goals (5 per game) and conceding just six (0.2 per game) in the process. Indeed, England’s last defeat came back in April 2021 against Canada, exactly one year and 216 days ago.
● Norway have lost four of their last seven games in all competitions (W3), having enjoyed a six-game winning streak beforehand. Indeed, former England interim head coach Hege Riise will face the Lionesses for the first time as Norway manager and has won three of her five games in charge so far since being appointed in August (L2).
● Ella Toone has scored eleven and assisted six more in just 13 starts for England in all competitions, including scoring last time out against Japan - the Lionesses have yet to lose when Toone has started a match (W11 D2).
● Jessica Park became the first player born in 2001 to score a goal for England in all competitions. Aged 21 years and 21 days, Park was the youngest player to get on the scoresheet for the Lionesses since a 20-year-old Georgia Stanway netted against Norway back in September 2019.

Sarina Wiegman has named an England Women's starting line-up against Norway which included several talking points.
Firstly, there was a debut for young defender Maya Le Tissier after her impressive few seasons at Brighton & Hove Albion and then start to life at Manchester United. You can read about her journey to the senior side here, where she also discusses what it means to represent her country.
There is also a start in goal for Ellie Roebuck but one of the main talking points was the selection of Rachel Daly up front. The versatile star played a key role as England won the Women's EUROs in the summer at left back but for many years she has been a potent striker while playing in the States and has impressed in that position since moving back to these shores with Aston Villa.

England Women rounded off a glorious 2022 with a 1-1 draw over Norway in their final international fixture of the year.
Rachel Daly opened the scoring with a sublime header as England dominated the first-half possession in Murcia.
But ten-player Norway equalised in the second half to see England settle for a draw, which was enough to see them go unbeaten in a year where they were also crowned European champions on home soil.
It was a special night for Maya Le Tissier as she made her senior England debut at right back, with Daly starting in a striking role and Ellie Roebuck in goal.
Norway, who are coached by former England interim coach Hege Riise, started brightly, forcing Roebuck into an early save, as Guro Reiten’s slick pass set up Emilie Haavi, though the goalkeeper was more than a match for the shot as she tipped it behind.
Daly, who was named as a striker for this match having played in defence against Japan, showed her attacking intent after 15 minutes as she took on a rushed goal kick by Aurora Mikalsen, but could not direct the ball into the net.
Reiten had a chance of her own before England took charge of the game, Daly and Chloe Kelly linking up, foreshadowing what was to come for the Lionesses.
Lauren James had England’s first shot on target with 31 minutes gone, sending a powerful effort straight at Mikalsen.
And two minutes later, Daly gave England the lead, heading home a fine cross from Kelly. Daly timed her run well to direct the ball into the back of the net, leaving Mikalsen with no choice but to stand and watch.
England continued to pepper the Norway box with crosses up to half-time, Nikita Parris first sending a ball just behind Daly before Kelly’s cross from out wide had to be turned behind.
Georgia Stanway took over the armband from Millie Bright as she came on in the second half, joining Katie Zelem and Esme Morgan as the half-time substitutes.
Norway again opened the half with the first attempts on goal, but Roebuck remained calm, putting in a diving save to tip a dangerous Reiten free-kick behind.
England had too much pace for Norway to deal with at times, Niamh Charles showing her strength and speed to outwit the opposition defence and send a ball to Ella Toone on the edge of the box, who couldn’t find the goal.
Daly then reverted to a defensive position as Alessia Russo came on for Alex Greenwood, who set up a Parris header which Mikalsen dealt with.
Parris’ dangerous presence on the right wing continued to cause Norway problems, who saw Anja Sonstevold sent off in the 72nd minute for two fouls on the Manchester United player.
Despite being a player down, Norway equalised through Frida Maanum, who got around Roebuck who had attempted to clear to bring her side back into the game.
Katie Robinson became the second England debutant of the night as she came on with seven minutes to go and showed some bright moments but the Lionesses were unable to find the breakthrough.
