England men’s under-21s will host Republic of Ireland at the home of Birmingham City on Friday 14 November (7.45pm GMT kick-off).

St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park will be the venue for the Young Lions’ fourth fixture in 2027 UEFA U21 EURO qualifying Group D as the reigning back-to-back European champions work towards reaching the finals in Albania and Serbia.

Lee Carsley’ s squad are currently one win from one having beaten Kazakhstan away earlier this month, with a trip to Moldova and home fixture against Andorra at Derby County’s Pride Park up next in the October international window.

The meeting with the Irish in Birmingham will be followed by an away fixture in Slovakia on Tuesday 18 November to complete England’s first round of matches in Group D.

This will be the first MU21s fixture in the blue half of the Second City since February 2001 when Howard Wilkinson’s side were beaten 4-0 by Spain in front of a watching Sven-Göran Eriksson the evening before he took charge of his first England game against the same opposition at nearby Villa Park.

St. Andrew’s is a familiar stage for Birmingham-born head coach Carsley who spent two years with the Blues chalking up 53 appearances between 2008 and 2010 before returning to the club as a coach in 2017.

From the MU21s team that recently beat Kazakhstan, there’s also Birmingham interest in on-loan goalkeeper James Beadle and captain Jobe Bellingham, who is a product of the Blues Academy.

Tickets for the match will be available to Birmingham City season ticket holders from 9am on Thursday 25 September before going on general sale from 9am on Monday 29 September.
