England men’s under-18s overcame Canada in a 3-2 victory in the Costa De La Luz U18 international tournament to sign off from the September international camp.

With the Young Lions having already won the tournament – a 4-1 win against Morocco at the weekend confirming the outcome – Neil Ryan’s side made it three wins from as many games this month.

Just five minutes into the contest, the Young Lions took the lead through Luca Williams-Barnett.

Tynan Thompson’s low cross into the box made for an easy finish for team-mate Williams-Barnett to make it 1-0 to England.

Ryan’s men doubled their advantage later in the first period when Jun’ai Byfield added a second with ten minutes of the half remaining.

After seeing an initial effort stopped by the opposition keeper, the England defender was quick to react and ripple the net.

In the second half, Canada halved the deficit, making it 2-1 with 57 minutes on the watch.

But the Young Lions re-established their two-goal cushion, courtesy of substitute Chizaram Ezenwata.

With five minutes left to play, the forward made it 3-1 to all but seal victory for Ryan’s side in Spain.

Canada pulled a goal back late in the day to make it 3-2 before Ezenwata missed a chance to score his second of the game from the penalty spot.

However, England maintained their 100% record in the tournament, holding on for victory.
