On Tuesday 11 November, colleagues at St. George’s Park joined the nation in observing the two-minute silence to remember all servicemen and women who made the ultimate sacrifice.
This year’s act of remembrance took place beside our 14 memorial trees — planted in 2018 to honour the England internationals who served in the First World War — and this year enhanced by a new poppy motif; a heartfelt creation from our Estates team.
This year’s act of remembrance took place beside our 14 memorial trees — planted in 2018 to honour the England internationals who served in the First World War — and this year enhanced by a new poppy motif; a heartfelt creation from our Estates team.
The trees, planted by a group that included members of the senior England men’s squad at the time — Joe Hart, Ashley Young and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain — were part of the For Club and Country campaign by the Woodland Trust and National Football Museum.
The trees represent Sam Hardy, Frank Buckley, Albert Colclough, George Elliott, Harold Fleming, Harry Hampton, Edwin Latheron, Joe McCall, Harry Martin, Edwin Mosscrop, Joe Smith, Fanny Walden, Charles Wallace and Richard Watson.

Andy Savery, St. George’s Park General Manager, said: “Taking a moment to reflect and pay tribute to the brave servicemen and women who made the ultimate sacrifice is always deeply meaningful. Marking the occasion beside the memorial trees, beautifully complemented this year by the Estates team’s painted poppy motif, made this year’s remembrance especially poignant. We hope this space continues to bring people together on Remembrance Day for years to come.”
