England's hat-trick hero speaks after a memorable night at Wembley in the Nations League

MATCH REPORT: ENGLAND 6-0 PORTUGAL

Hat-trick hero Aggie Beever-Jones reflected on a dream evening at Wembley as her first-half treble helped England to a 6-0 win over Portugal.

The Lionesses flew out of the traps, with Beever-Jones opening the scoring within three minutes before Lucy Bronze added a quick-fire second shortly after.

The Chelsea striker got her second with a thumping header after 26 minutes before she fired home her third soon after, leaving Beth Mead and Chloe Kelly to complete the scoring.

"I'm absolutely shattered, coming into today off the back of a busy season,” she admitted.

“But when I got told I was starting, I wanted to help the team as much as I can, so I'm absolutely delighted. I can't quite believe it.”

"I think the [match] ball has gone around, I'm getting the girls to sign it because it such a special day.

"It was a good team performance today, I think we were really clinical in the first half and if I'm honest, I think the standard dropped a bit in the second so we're looking to improve that so we are ready for the EUROs.”

As Beever-Jones states, it was a strong performance from Sarina Wiegman’s team who now head into the final game of their UEFA Women’s Nations League campaign against group leaders Spain on Tuesday knowing that a win will seal top spot.

And with this summer’s EUROs just around the corner, it’s the perfect time for England to find their form with places in Wiegman’s squad for Switzerland still up for grabs.

"For me, I'm just focusing on the current and the now and I believe everything else will fall into place,” added Beever-Jones.

“As long as I'm giving the right people headaches and making Sarina happy, then so be it.”
