The Chelsea and England striker speaks of her excitement ahead of her first major tournament with the Lionesses in our EURO 2025 player diary

COUNTDOWN TO EURO 2025

It's my first tournament, so I'm super excited to be here and so far, I've already made so many memories out here.

I didn't really know what to expect, but as soon as we got here to basecamp, you should've seen mine and some of the girls' faces, just in awe of everything.

We came through the door and everything was England-themed and then when we headed up to the rooms, there’s little touches like our names and numbers on the doors and everyone was trying to find their rooms - it was really sweet.

When we came through to the meeting room, we saw a picture of all the girls at Wembley with their older and younger selves at their grassroots clubs in it. We were all just pointing out at who's who...it's such a nice touch and just reminds everyone of where they came from and leads to little chats amongst us all about our first clubs. I think it's my favourite thing out of everything really.

I feel extremely lucky and privileged to be here so I'm just trying to enjoy every moment really.

With our basecamp being so incredible, I still feel like I haven't really explored everywhere but a few of us did find the spikeball and basketball so we had a little tournament on the first night between a few of us.

We went to the Lake on the first day. There was me, Grace and Maya and a few of the other girls, we all joined in and ended up on the slides and it was so funny.

We've also been on a few walks already and Switzerland is so beautiful, so I'm just trying to go on as many walks as possible.

After seeing our basecamp, we had high expectations for our training base and when we walked in and saw everything was England-themed in the gym, it was just so cool and overlooking the training pitch.

It was boiling for our first session, so there were lots of ice towels and sun cream, but it was nice to get our first session in and we're feeling good ahead of our first game this weekend.

With a few days to go until the first game, it's definitely starting to feel a bit more real, especially now that the tournament has started.

But I'm excited for it and our first game with France and seeing my Chelsea teammate Sandy [Baltimore], but we're here to win and we're hoping to do that and we just want to get going and see what we can do.

Having people around with the experience of Lucy Bronze helps. All credit to her that this is her seventh tournament and she's still going strong. She's an incredible person and player, we really respect those experienced players who can put an arm around us and I just can't wait to live through the next however-many weeks.

For those of us coming in for our first tournament, we've all said we never know what's going to happen, so we just want to enjoy the experience.

I know that I'm just waking up every day and looking at the view from my room and thinking it's incredible. And then looking at the grassroots photo every day and thinking of the little girl I was who would be thinking it's just incredible to be here now.

I was at the last EURO Final at Wembley as a fan and now I'm here, it's crazy. I try not to think too much about it.

I had a moment the other day with my dad, when I remembered we used to drive up and down the A3 to Chelsea training and at one point from the road, you could see the Wembley Arch in the distance. I remember him saying to me: 'If you keep working hard, one day, you might be there...'

Wembley now holds so many memories for me and the last time I played there, obviously I got a hat-trick so it just doesn't feel real. I don't think it'll ever hit me, I just want to keep going and learning every day and who knows what will happen.
