Report: Netherlands 0-4 England MU17s
Neil Ryan's Young Lions completed a double over the Netherlands in Portugal
England men’s under-17s made it back-to-back victories against the Netherlands at the Sports Complex Vila Real de Santo Antoni after Neil Ryan’s side registered a comfortable 4-0 win.
After beating Pieter Schrassert Bert’s side 3-2 in an entertaining game last Thursday, the Young Lions followed that result up with a dominant display to wrap up their time in Portugal.
It took just six minutes for England to make their mark on the contest. Crystal Palace defender Dean Benamar’s corner kick went all the way in, looping into the back of the net to put Ryan’s side in front.
With 23 minutes played, Manchester City’s Harrison Miles was bundled over inside the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Olympique Lyonnais forward Alejandro Rodriguez stepped up to convert the resulting spot kick, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.
With around half-an-hour on the watch, Rodriguez doubled his tally. The 16 year old won back possession before racing through on goal and finding the finish from a difficult angle to make it 3-0.
And Ryan’s side added a fourth in the 90th minute, courtesy of Luca Williams-Barnett. The Tottenham Hotspur forward put the icing on the cake with a neat finish from close range.
