VOTE FOR THE LIONESSES AT SPOTY
Sarina Wiegman has been named as The Best FIFA Women’s Coach at The Best FIFA Football Awards 2025.
It marks the fifth time the Lionesses boss has won the award, having previously done so in 2017, 2020, 2022 and 2023.
Up until last year, the Dutchwoman was the only manager to receive the prize on more than one occasion, with her first two accolades coming with the Netherlands before winning the award for the first time as the England head coach in the wake of the Lionesses’ EURO 2022 triumph.
“It’s an absolute honour to receive this award again,” said Wiegman. “I would like to thank FIFA and everyone who voted and I would like to congratulate Seb [Hines], Jonatan [Giráldez], Renee [Slegers] and Sonia [Bompastor] on your achievements too.
“And thank you to the FA for their continued support for me and the team. This award is actually for the players and staff. We’ve showed so much conviction, belief and togetherness that led us to our second EURO win.
“Moving into 2026, let’s keep pushing the women’s game forward together and create environments for every player, so they can reach their full potential.”
On the back of this summer’s success at UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, Hannah Hampton has been selected as The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper, while England teammate Anna Moorhouse was also in the running for the accolade.
The Chelsea stopper was between the sticks for the Lionesses out in Switzerland as she was crowned a two-time European champion.
"Thank you very much to everyone who voted," said Hampton. "It is greatly appreciated and it really means a lot.
"To Sarina [Wiegman] and to Sonia [Bompastor] for the belief in me this year, both at club and country, we've achieved so much and there's still so much set out for us to go and get.
"And to the fans, both at club and country again, your support doesn't go unnoticed and we hear you cheering every single game, loud and proud, and it helps push us on to go and get the win for you guys, so thank you very much."
In addition, Lucy Bronze, Lauren James, Chloe Kelly, Alessia Russo and Leah Williamson were also nominated for The Best FIFA Women’s Player but missed out on the prize.
And England’s Harry Kane and Cole Palmer were nominated for The Best FIFA Men’s Player.
England were also represented in the The Best FIFA Women’s 11 and The Best FIFA Men’s 11.
Hannah Hampton, Lucy Bronze, Leah Williamson and Alessia Russo made the The Best FIFA Women’s 11, while Cole Palmer and Jude Bellingham were named in The Best FIFA Men’s 11.
The winners were announced at the FIFA Celebration Dinner which was held at Fairmont Katara Hall in Doha.
Votes from the fans, along with the current captains and coaches of all women’s and men’s national teams and media representatives were combined to determine the winners.
