MATCH REPORT: ENGLAND v USA

England goalkeeper Mary Earps was in good form at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, as she helped the Lionesses to a 0-0 draw with USA.

The Lionesses had to settle for a draw against Emma Hayes’ Olympic champions, in front of an electric atmosphere and near-80,000 crowd at the national stadium.

And the Paris Saint-Germain stopper admits it was a good test for England as they continue their preparations for next summer’s EURO Finals in Switzerland.

"It was tough, as you'd expect against the Olympic champions,” said Earps.

“We were hard to beat, resolute and stuck together as a group. There are things to build on but I think we will take a 0-0."

The Lionesses began their season last month with defeat at Wembley against Germany before their victory over South Africa in Coventry.

And Earps admits Sarina Wiegman and the players continue to focus on themselves as they head into a busty 2025.

"I think it has been a tough year, with a few tough results,” she added.

“We know what we can do as a group. It is about figuring out how we can play. That's the thing with friendlies, you can experiment with a few things. Drawing against the Olympic champions is no small thing but we want to be winning those games."

With regards to her own display, the former Manchester United player was happy to play her part in keeping a clean sheet.

"It's about me going out there and being who I am,” she said.

“That's all I try to do. Play with a smile on my face and that's what I will start to do."
