MATCH CENTRE: ENGLAND 3-0 BiH

Cole Palmer spoke of his joy at getting his first goal for England in Monday’s 3-0 victory over Bosnia & Herzegovina.

The Chelsea forward was given his first start for the Three Lions by boss Gareth Southgate, and he opened the scoring at St. James’ Park with a second-half penalty to set England on their way to victory.

“It's a great feeling, the first goal for your country,” said the former MU21s ace.

“Everyone wants to score for their country, so when it went in I was buzzing.

“Tonight probably wasn't my best game, it has been a long season. I’m just trying to find my feet, it is my first start for England so hopefully I can go to Germany."

And Palmer’s achievements this season with Chelsea and England were also endorsed by Three Lions captain Harry Kane, who came on to replace him moments after the goal before adding one of his own later in the game.

“He’s had an unbelievable season,” said Kane.

“It's never easy moving clubs as well and what he [Palmer] has done for Chelsea is a credit to him and the team he was in.

“We’re very happy to have him. I am delighted he got his goal because we are going to need all our players chipping in with important goals in the tournament in a couple of weeks.

“The more people feeling good, the better.”
