Mainoo: 'We are in the final to win it'
Match report: Netherlands 1-2 England
Kobbie Mainoo urged his England teammates to make one more bit of history after they defeated the Netherlands 2-1 in the semi-final of EURO 2024 on Wednesday.
That victory ensured a first ever major tournament final on foreign soil for the men's senior side, with Ollie Watkins scoring a dramatic 90th-minute winner.
Spain await in Berlin on Sunday and Mainoo is desperate for a final victory to win the trophy.
He said: "100% that is the aim, that's the only reason we're here.
"We're not here to get to the final and call it quits. We're here to win and to sketch our names into history.
"What a team performance overall. Everyone ran themselves into the ground against tough opposition and managed to come away with the win.
"What a finish from Ollie Watkins. What a way to do it."
Mainoo has impressed since coming into the side in the last-16 against Slovakia and is delighted with the way things have panned out in Germany.
He said: "I'm here to do a job for the team and I'm here to win. It's a dream come true.
"I can't get caught up in the bright lights. I've got to get my head down and do the job."
