About the course

The learning programme has been designed to support the professional development of teachers and trainee teachers who deliver Physical Education across Key Stages 1-4. 

It is delivered by our expert PE Officers and develops confidence and competence to plan and teach high-quality Physical Education lessons.

This course is only suitable for qualified teachers or individuals currently working towards qualified teacher status.

Expectations and goals

This workshop will provide practical examples which will enable learners to develop their knowledge, understanding and application of:

  • Creating a positive learning environment for all pupils

  • Managing difference in PE lessons

  • Embedding assessment for learning strategies into PE lessons

  • National curriculum PE linked to your own school values

  • How to design a curriculum map which aims to consistently deliver high quality PE

  • How to develop physical literacy and skills utilised in football

Course Schedule

Developing a basic knowledge, understanding and application of PE being more than just physical/technical/tactical development of pupils, learning domains and The FA 4 Corner Model and using games to embed learning across all 4 corners.

Developing a basic knowledge, understanding and application of the PE National Curriculum and school values, physical literacy and football skills, as well as designing a curriculum map to consistently deliver high-quality PE.

Developing a basic knowledge, understanding and application of managing difference in PE lessons, embedding Assessment for Learning (AfL) strategies into PE lessons and creating a positive learning environment.

Developing a basic knowledge, understanding and application of using a learning through games approach to create a fun and engaging PE environment, using games with a clear purpose linked to the aims and objectives of the curriculum and how games can be used in a variety of combinations to form lesson structures.
