Jarrad received his first call-up to the England men's senior squad for the double-header at Wembley with Brazil and Belgium, following his impressive form with both Everton and the England MU21s during the 2023-24 season.

Having previously represented the Young Lions from his international debut with the MU19s in 2020 and then representing the MU20s in 2021, he progressed into Lee Carsley's MU21s and was a part of the squad who won the UEFA U21 EURO in 2023.

He was still young enough to start the new 2025 U21 EURO campaign as the autumn qualification fixtures in 2023 kicked-off, but by the turn of the year his performances for the Toffees propelled him into Gareth Southgate's thoughts as the Three Lions' preparations for UEFA EURO 2024 ramped up.

Born in Carlisle, Jarrad grew up in Wigton and after shining at both grassroots and school level he was snapped up by Carlisle United at the age of eleven. He continued to progress through the Brunton Park ranks and made his first-team debut at the age of 17 in a League Two game against Plymouth Argyle in October 2019.

By now, scouts were flocking to catch a glimpse of Branthwaite in action and it was Everton who won the race for his signature in 2020, before he was sent out to gain more experience on loan with Blackburn Rovers in the Championship and then PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch Eredivisie.

After excelling in the Netherlands, Everton boss Sean Dyche installed him as one of his first-choice central defenders from the start of the 2023-24 campaign, where he continued to excel in the Premier League.
