- World Cup-winning captain Bobby Moore played 108 times for England between 1962 and 1973, scoring twice – both in 1966 – in friendlies against Poland and Norway. Moore captained the Three Lions on 90 occasions, a joint record he holds with Billy Wright.
- Aged 22 years and 47 days when he first captained England in May 1963 against Czechoslovakia, Moore is England’s youngest ever captain. At the time, he broke a record which had stood since the first ever international match in 1872, with Moore 87 days younger than Cuthbert Ottaway. It was the only time Moore captained England in his first 18 games but he then captained the Three Lions in 89 of his next 90 international appearances, only relinquishing the captaincy in April 1970 against Northern Ireland, allowing Bobby Charlton to captain the side on his 100th appearance.
- Only Peter Shilton has played more games for England at the World Cup than Moore and no player has captained the Three Lions more often at the tournament.
- Bobby Moore – who lifted the World Cup at Wembley in 1966 – played 43 times at the national stadium, with only Peter Shilton and Bobby Charlton ever playing more often there for England.
- Moore played in 100 of Sir Alf Ramsey’s 113 games as England manager, 27 more than any other player featured under Ramsey. It is one of only two instances since England appointed a manager for the first time in 1946 that a player has played 100+ games under a manager, along with Billy Wright under Walter Winterbottom.
- Across the 1966 and 1970 World Cups, Bobby Moore made the most interceptions (41) and won possession of the ball (120) more than any other player for any nation.
