Thomas Tuchel and Marc Guéhi addressed the media on Wednesday evening ahead of England’s international against Wales.
Here is what they had to say.
Tuchel on the fitness of Harry Kane:
Harry will miss the game. He got a kick in his last match with Bayern Munich. It was too painful to kick a ball; it was too risky that he gets another kicks and will just be in an up and down situation pain wise, so we gave him the chance that everything calms down. I think we are convinced that he will be ready for the match against Latvia.
The options as captains will be one of Jordan Henderson, John Stones and Declan Rice.
On the return of John Stones:
I love that he’s in camp. He had only half a camp with us last time and I saw how gutted and sad he was that he had to leave again. He’s a deep thinker, he’s such an intelligent and very sensitive personality.
It’s just brilliant to have him, together with Harry, with Jordan, with Declan – they have an attitude towards training, they have an attitude towards in what it takes to be a professional football player, to be a team player that is of the highest standards. It’s just so infectious if these guys are in camp. Everyone steps up because they don’t accept anything else than their level which is the highest level.
On his squad selection:
It's a good thing that we have tough choices to make because we have a strong squad and we have strong players to select from. We have a huge pool of players and we decided for this camp to stick mostly with the team that had a brilliant camp last time.
Now we have already some injuries. We cannot play with the same 11 against Serbia because four players are already missing from the starting 11, so it was natural that we have changes but we believe in what we’re building, we believe in what we feel, we believe in what we are seeing with this team and with this squad and like I said, the competition is on.
On the game against Wales:
There was a huge chance that we would have maybe started with the same squad if the same squad was available – it is unfortunately not for tomorrow. It’s also another problem so we find other solutions.
We had only a very short period of time to prepare [for] the match because in my belief it will be a difficult match and a complicated match because we play against a very well-coached team that have a very brave approach to play. They will make the most of the underdog role in which they play tomorrow – they will thrive in this role.
On England’s desire to win:
I cannot give any guarantees for any result but I know how we want to play football and I know the level that we showed in the last match is the level that we can show. We will have some changes tomorrow and I just want that we play, that we deserve tomorrow. We play tomorrow to win, we want to win and want to keep our thing going, so let’s see if we can make this happen.
On the Alzheimer's Society International:
We’re so happy that we can raise a subject like this and bring it into the spotlight. I think this is only a positive thing that we can do as a national team and I know that the players are happy to contribute to such actions.
It makes you always straight away aware of how lucky we are and how privileged we are and makes us just very, very grateful. The best wishes and full support goes out to everyone who is affected and to all the families who are affected.

Guéhi on the year so far:
It’s been good. I’ve been enjoying every single moment of it. Obviously the most recent success winning the FA Cup with Crystal Palace was an amazing feeling. I’m more happy for them than myself, to be honest, because the fans have waited a long time and the club deserve it, but it’s been an enjoyable year.
There’s so many experiences that I can take from the games I’ve had over the last 12 months or so. I’m grateful to be playing in teams that are thriving and excelling but also in tough moments, you can learn as well. A lot of good moments for me to improve and help as much as possible.
On the nature of the fixture:
I think the mindset in the group is that it’s not a friendly. I don’t see how it can be. Every time you pull on the shirt, it’s a great opportunity just to show what we can do and play and try and win in a way that we believe we can. This game is definitely not a friendly. We’ll be giving everything we can to win the game.
On the importance of the outcome against Wales:
The result is very important because we want to carry on this unbeaten run that we have and carry on creating amazing moments for ourselves but the performance definitely because ultimately it gives us an opportunity to learn, to improve as much as possible for the upcoming qualifiers and hopefully for the tournament itself.
On the opposition:
Wales are a good team. We know so many individuals from the Premier League and from other leagues themselves. I think since the new manager has come in, he’s given them a real identity. We’re expecting a tough game – a really organised team with a lot of creativity.

The Three Lions produced a dominant performance in the Alzheimer's Society International, with Thomas Tuchel’s side in control from start to finish.
England made the perfect start as Rogers swept home after just three minutes before strikes from Ollie Watkins and Bukayo Saka inside the game’s first quarter established a merited 3-0 lead early on.
Tuchel was able to make a number of changes after the break but the Three Lions were not able to add to their tally, as attention now turns to Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier away against Latvia in Riga.
The resulting corner brought the breakthrough after just three minutes, with Marc Guéhi excellently keeping the ball alive from a John Stones header and then finding Rogers, who swept home from inside the box.
England doubled the lead just eight minutes later, as Watkins prodded home from close range after Aston Villa teammate Rogers turned provider with a dangerous ball across the face of goal.
Saka was not to be denied on his return from injury, as the winger cut inside at the edge of the box and curled home into the top corner in stunning fashion to make it 3-0 with 20 minutes on the clock.
England continued to push for more goals and Watkins came inches away from doubling his own tally but he could not convert at the back post after a dangerous Elliot Anderson cross.
Wales looked to get themselves back into the game but Harry Wilson’s effort from range was comfortably over the bar.
A short corner routine then allowed Rogers time and space in the box but his effort cannoned off the crossbar.
Jordan Pickford was then called into action for the first time with ten minutes of the second half played, and the England ‘keeper showed smart reactions to deny David Brooks’ back-post volley.
Both sides rang the changes and Pickford was called into action again, this time he produced an energetic stop to beat away a header from substitute Chris Mepham to ensure England kept a clean sheet.
