England’s Noni Madueke and Marc Guéhi reflected on a good night’s work in Belgrade, after helping the Three Lions to an impressive 5-0 win over Serbia and also registering first goals for their country.

Thomas Tuchel’s team put on a strong performance throughout in the Serbian capital to strengthen their hold in their qualifying group and taking a major step closer to securing their place at next summer’s FIFA World Cup in North America.

And both players joined Harry Kane, Ezri Konsa and Marcus Rashford on the scoresheet to cap off a memorable start to the 2025-26 season.

Arsenal winger Madueke, who also impressed in the win over Andorra on home soil at the weekend, said: “I’m delighted with the team performance and the win.

“It was a really, really top performance today and thank God that I was able to score my first goal - it was a top day overall.

“It was a great flick from Morgan [Rogers] and as soon as it broke for me, I had one thought in my head, which was to go as fast as I could to the goal and then compose myself for the finish so I’m really happy.

“It’s a great feeling. It’s something that you work for, and that you dream of when you're a lot younger and then for it to come to fruition today is a great feeling.”

And Crystal Palace defender Guéhi was also pleased with his return to international duty, as England took another step closer to reaching the USA, Canada and Mexico.

“It’s been great, it's always easy coming here,” he said.

“We’ve got such a good group of players and a good group of staff. We’re all working towards one goal, so it’s been really enjoyable. It’s always good to be here.

“I’m just over the moon, just like Noni said, I reiterate what he said, it’s a fantastic feeling.

“You work really hard growing up and to score a goal for your country is the best feeling.

“This performance in particular is the standout, but we’ve had a lot of good camps and we just hope to carry this on and the standard has been set.”
