Excitement building for June camp, says Tuchel
The Three Lions boss explains his thought process behind this morning's squad announcement
SQUAD NAMED FOR ANDORRA AND SENEGAL
England men’s senior team head coach Thomas Tuchel is looking to build on his winning start to life in the hotseat after naming his second squad ahead of next month’s international camp.
The Three Lions are hoping to pick up where they left off in their European qualifying campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup when they face Andorra at the RCDE Stadium on Saturday 7 June (5pm BST kick-off).
Tuchel’s side – who beat Albania 2-0 before overcoming Latvia 3-0 last time out – then take on Senegal in an international match-up at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground on Tuesday 10 June (7.45pm BST kick-off).
“We can’t wait,” said Tuchel. “It’s been a while. We had a good first camp and we are eager to do the next step and have a good camp again in Spain and back at St. George’s Park with two matches.

“We want to win both matches. It’s super important. We are the heavy favourites [against Andorra] and we expect from ourselves a win. We will prepare for this game with all the respect and of course, very seriously.
“We love Wembley and Wembley is our home but it’s a nice change of routine [to play at the City Ground]. It will be a nice occasion because Senegal are a strong team, high up in the international ranking, so it will be a good test and a necessary test.”
The upcoming camp sees Tuchel reward Trevoh Chalobah with his first senior call up. The Chelsea defender, who spent the first half of the 2024-25 campaign on loan at Crystal Palace, has represented England from under-16s right through to the under-21s.
“We have some injuries in the central defender position,” explained Tuchel. “Trevor has stepped up massively since he came back to Chelsea. Since last camp – even before – he was already on our radar but since last camp, in the last months, he had a major contribution in the run of Chelsea.
“They’re still fighting for Champions League and he was one of their most consistent and best defenders so we think he deserves the call up and maybe get his first cap.”

There are also recalls for Ivan Toney, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Conor Gallagher and Noni Madueke.
“This is maybe the last chance to integrate more players and see more players in our environment and see how they behave and see the quality and what they can bring to the group,” continued Tuchel.
“We added some new guys to have a full picture when things become even more competitive in September, October and November.”
Striker Toney, who won the AFC Champions League Elite with Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli earlier this month, caught boss Tuchel’s eye. And the 29 year old could feature for England for the first time since helping the Three Lions reach the final of EURO 2024.

“We saw goals – decisive goals and the big title,” said Tuchel “He had a massive contribution to the Asian Champions League title for his club.
“I didn’t have the opportunity until today to see him live in Saudi Arabia so we took the possibility to fly him in to our camp to watch him live within the group and see his personality and see his quality.
“The same for Ollie Watkins so we have three number nines in camp which is rare but nice to see.”
