The Arsenal starlet was lost for words after marking his England debut with a goal at Wembley

MATCH REPORT: ENGLAND 2-0 ALBANIA

Myles Lewis-Skelly was overcome with emotion after a dream debut for the England men’s senior team in the Three Lions’ 2-0 win over Albania in their first outing of 2025.

The 18 year old made history in Thomas Tuchel’s first game in charge, becoming the youngest-ever player to score on his England bow after the new Three Lions head coach named him in the starting line-up for the game at Wembley.

He found the back of the net early in the first period to break the deadlock for the hosts on what was already shaping up to be a memorable night for the youngster.

"All I remember is staying wide and rotating with Marcus Rashford,” recalled Lewis-Skelly. “Jude (Bellingham) loves to stay on the half-turn. It was a great pass from him and the timing was very good.

"The keeper was coming at me, and I tried to put it between the legs. I didn't even think I was going to score!"

Having represented his country at under-16s all the way through to under-19s level, Lewis-Skelly was rewarded with his first call-up to the senior squad by Tuchel last week.

And the Arsenal star helped England to take a step closer to World Cup qualification as the Three Lions look to secure their place at next year’s major tournament in North America.

"I am lost for words,” said Lewis-Skelly. "This past six months have gone so quickly. I stay in the present and I take every moment as it comes. Honestly, it is incredible. This is a day I'll never forget."

After being informed earlier today that he would be starting the game under the famous arch, his international team-mates were full of praise for his performance at the full-time whistle – as Declan Rice described the teenager as 'fearless' – with his family and friends watching on.

"I found out in the morning in the meeting and when I saw my name my heart started to pound – I was so excited,” added Lewis-Skelly.

"I had so many message before the game. They are all here tonight and it means the world to them.”
