England women’s under-17s ended their UEFA U17 EURO campaign for 2024-25 with a 3-1 defeat against Finland on Thursday morning.
The Young Lionesses went into the game knowing that a place in the Finals in Faroe Islands in May was out of their reach, following their defeat against the Netherlands on Monday despite kicking-off their second qualifying round with a win over Sweden.
Group hosts Finland took the lead at the Veritas Stadium in Turku five minutes before half time, when an unfortunate own goal from Isabella Cowley edged them ahead.
And two goals in the space of seven minutes around the hour mark from Queenie Xiang and Martta Orava made it 3-0, before England substitute Jhanaie Pierre pulled a goal back in the last few minutes.
