The England men's senior team will welcome Senegal and Wales later this year to complete their 2025 schedule, otherwise dominated by 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Nottingham Forest’s City Ground will host the match-up with Senegal, one-time champions of Africa, on Tuesday 10 June (7.45pm BST kick-off)

The Three Lions will then return to Wembley Stadium connected by EE to face neighbours Wales on Thursday 9 October (7.45pm BST kick-off).

It locks in an exciting first year in charge for Thomas Tuchel who is aiming to take his squad to next summer’s showpiece in Canada, Mexico and USA.

The England head coach said: “The games against Senegal and Wales will present good challenges for us against two very different opponents. Facing a strong African team in a passionate city with rich football heritage and then a derby match at the iconic Wembley; two big occasions that can only help us on the road to the World Cup.

“While I know Wembley is our home, I also understand the importance of taking the team around the country when we are able to and the opportunity to experience playing at a famous old English stadium such as the City Ground is one we can all look forward to.”

Senegal’s only previous meeting with England was in the 2022 FIFA World Cup round of 16 when goals from Jordan Henderson, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka secured a 3-0 win in Al Khor, Qatar.

The City Ground last hosted England’s senior men’s team for a competitive fixture in March 1909, a 2-0 Home Championship win against Wales.

The Welsh were also opponents for England in Qatar with that 3-0 victory in the group stage being the most recent of 104 meetings stretching back to 1879. The Three Lions’ record against the Dragons stands at 69 wins, 21 draws and 14 defeats.

England have been drawn in Group K of 2026 World Cup qualifying alongside Serbia, Albania, Latvia and Andorra.

That campaign starts next month with a Wembley double-header against Albania on Friday 21 March (7.45pm kick-off) and Latvia on Monday 24 March (7.45pm kick-off). Ticket details for the England v Latvia fixture can be found here.

It is also intended for the home qualifier against Andorra in September to be played away from Wembley with further plans to be announced in due course.

All England men’s senior fixtures will continue to be broadcast live on ITV.
