Pickford hails Kane's mentality as the key to winning 100 caps
England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford believes he has played with the best in Harry Kane, who now has a century of England appearances
Jordan Pickford claims Harry Kane's dedication is the key to the England captain reaching 100 international caps.
Kane was honoured ahead of the Nations League game against Finland at Wembley on Tuesday night before crowning the evening with a match-winning brace.
Pickford joked that his long-time England teammate can be a nightmare to face in training but that the standards he sets are the key to his longevity.
He said: "It's been brilliant to train with him because you're learning from the best.
"It can be hard work because you're getting shots fired at you from one of the best centre-forwards in the world. He never messes about either, he just wants to score every time.
"When you're in small-sided games you want to be on his team every time, that's for sure. You get a buzz from practising with him because his eye for goal is unbelievable.
"He works so hard to keep his body right through the season. He plays the majority of games at club and international level and he's always available for selection. The mentality of it and the performances he puts in every week at club level have set the tone for his international career."
Pickford does not expect Kane to slow down any time soon, with more records and achievements in sight.
The goalkeeper said: "He's not too far off Peter Shilton's all-time record of 125. I certainly see no reason why he can't go on way beyond 100.
"He'll probably score 100 goals as well!"
