Paul Nevin's Young Lions equalise late to secure a draw in Istanbul

England men's Elite League Squad struck late to secure a draw with Turkiye in Istanbul.

The Young Lions made much of the running throughout but had to remain patient after the hosts' early opener, eventually hitting back through striker Dom Ballard two minutes from time.

In what was a feisty affair, Turkiye started the game well and won a penalty in the 18th minute after a tussle in the box.

The spot-kick was converted to leave the visitors on the back foot, a deficit they carried into the half-time break.

England came out fast in the second half, pinning their opponents back but not able to convert their pressure into goals.

Interim boss Paul Nevin made a handful of changes in an attempt to find the elusive equaliser – and was eventually rewarded.

Ballard, one of Nevin's substitutes, stepped up to score two minutes from time to earn England a deserved draw.

Nevin's side are next in action against Romania at Edgeley Park, Stockport, on Tuesday.
