England women’s under-19s kicked-off their week in Portugal for the Algarve Cup with an impressive win over the Netherlands on Friday afternoon.

With Lauren Smith taking charge as head coach for the first time, the Young Lionesses beat their Dutch opponents 3-1.

It didn’t take England long to exert their authority on the game, as Maddy Earl picked out the top corner after just five minutes to give them the lead.

They doubled their advantage after ten minutes, when Lexi Potter made it 2-0 after Princess Ademiluyi’s cut-back picked out the Crystal Palace midfielder in the box.

Ten minutes before half time, England added a third goal with Ademiluyi again being the provider with the striker’s pass diverted to Earl before she finished the move off.

The Dutch did manage to reduce the arrears shortly into the second half but it was enough to prevent the Young Lionesses running out worthy winners.
