Georgia Stanway pleased with positive reaction
Report: France 1-2 England
Georgia Stanway praised England's mentality after they avenged last Friday's defeat to France with a 2-1 win of their own over Les Bleues in Saint-Etienne on Tuesday.
Stanway opened the scoring for the Lionesses with a rasping long-range strike before Alessia Russo doubled their lead before half-time, a lead the hosts could only halve in the second period.
The midfielder was delighted with the way her side dominated the opening period of the game and believes the victory reflects their efforts across both matches.
She said: "We were on the front foot from the beginning. We knew the other day wasn't bad but we just had a few things to tweak. We did that today, we exploited the space behind them.
"We battled for 95 minutes and we made sure we weren't leaving this stadium without a good result. We needed to get back to our game. We are still not at the level we want to be but this is a massive step in the right direction for us."

Stanway's stunning goal set England on their way and the Bayern Munich star revealed it was a result of work done on the training ground since Friday.
She said: "I had some really good talks [with the staff] about how I can adjust my positioning, how I can help the team a little bit more, because I wasn't happy with my performance in the first game.
"Today I can be proud and happy, I put a shift in both in and out of possession tonight.
"I should have scored again with another shot later on that went wide so that will eat at me.
"But the win is absolutely massive, we knew how important it was for us to get the three points. We knew it wasn't going to be easy and when you are holding onto a 2-1 lead with 15 minutes to go you know the French are going to be putting balls in the box and are challenging us.
"It shows how strong we are that we can get these results. The points are massive, it's a really big win for us."
