Bobby Moore FC win the first ever ESTC Cup!
England Supporters Travel Club members enjoyed an unforgettable experience at Wembley Stadium for the second annual ESTC Pitch Day, held on Wednesday, 11 December 2024.
Playing on the Hallowed Turf
Over 3,000 ESTC members applied for the chance to play at The Home of Football, and 44 lucky members were selected to participate in a truly unique footballing experience under the iconic Wembley lights.
The day featured two exciting 30-minute matches:
Match 1: Bobby Moore FC faced Harry Kane FC, with Bobby Moore FC clinching victory on penalties after a closely fought 1-1 draw.
Match 2: Paul Gascoigne FC took on David Beckham FC, with David Beckham FC coming out on top.
The event concluded with a dramatic penalty shootout between Bobby Moore FC and David Beckham FC to crown the inaugural winner of the ESTC Cup. After a tense finale with goals and misses from both sides, Bobby Moore FC emerged victorious, lifting the first-ever trophy in front of their cheering supporters.
The Full Matchday Experience
Participants enjoyed a complete matchday experience, including pre-match team talks from managers Anwar Uddin and Steve Clark. Walking out of the iconic Wembley tunnel to Bitter Sweet Symphony and lining up for the national anthem created memories to last a lifetime.
Celebrations and Special Awards
The day was packed with excitement, camaraderie, and a few tired legs! Two players were recognised as Players of the Match by the team managers and were awarded England shirts signed by the Men’s Senior Team as a special reward for their efforts.
This year’s ESTC Pitch Day was a great success, and we’re thrilled to continue this annual tradition. Plans are already underway for next year’s event, and we’re excited to see who will represent Bobby Moore, Harry Kane, Paul Gascoigne, and David Beckham elevens in 2025!
As always, participants will be selected via the ‘70%/30%’ ballot rule. 70% of players will be top cappers, and 30% will be drawn at random.
