If I could…with Jordan Pickford
1) If I could…play alongside one player from the history of world football, it would be…
…Cristiano Ronaldo. I think for my generation growing up, you have him and Lionel Messi but I was leaning towards Ronaldo, especially when he was at Manchester United in his first stint. Everyone says him or Messi are the GOAT (greatest of all time) and I was leaning towards Ronaldo. Just look at him. When you look at his age and what he is still doing in the game now, it is unbelievable.
2) If I could…improve one part of my game today, it would be…
…maybe coming a bit more for crosses. You do work on crossing a lot in training but it is about making the right decision at the right time.
3) If I could…take one part of an England team-mate’s game, it would be…
…Walk’s pace. If I was too high up the pitch and needed to recover back in goal then Kyle Walker’s pace is another level.
4) If I could…go back to one event in history, it would be…
…going back to the World Cup in 1966.
5) If I could…change one thing about the world, it would be…
…the online abuse on social media. People being targeted by people who are sitting in their bedrooms and have got nothing better to do is an issue [for footballers]. I have dealt with it in the past myself but I try to stay away from the social media side of things as much as I can really.
6) If I could…change one thing about football, it would be…
…some of the VAR decisions. We all play football because we loved it growing up as kids and the VAR is something which has killed it (the enjoyment) a bit.
7) If I could…give my eight-year-old self one bit of advice, it would be…
…to just enjoy what you are doing. Whether it is playing football or being out on the streets with your mates, make sure you are enjoying your life and being a kid because it soon changes when you get a bit older!
Pickford v Kane | Pass Masters
Jordan Pickford and Harry Kane go head-to-head to see who truly is the Pass Master
8) If I could…speak to that child who is considering joining their local team but isn’t sure, I would tell them…
…to definitely join because you will have a great time. You will meet new people and meet friends who don’t go to your school and it is all about enjoying it. There is always the opportunity to play football at that young age and if you are not the best then you can always improve and still enjoy yourself.
9) If I could…only eat one item of food for the rest of my life, it would be…
…a nice British meal somewhere. It would probably be something like Toad in the Hole or something like that.
10) If I could…choose who would play me in the film of my life story, it would be…
…Thomas Turgoose, who plays Shaun in This is England. It would have to be him because I get that a lot off the lads.
11) If I could…invite three guests around for dinner, it would be…
…Tiger Woods for one. I would love to hear a few of his stories. Denzel Washington as well because I am a big fan of his. Actually I would say Leonardo DiCaprio but off of The Wolf of Wall Street. And I wouldn’t mind Adele singing at the dinner table as well.
12) If I could…have a second dream job, I would be…
…a top golfer. Being able to go all over the world playing golf would be great but I would want to be a good one! I don’t think they ever spend a week away where it is cold because the tournaments are always when the weather is good.
13) If I could…be one person for a day, it would be…
…Michael Jordan back in the day when he was playing basketball. He was always playing golf before games as well so that would be good for me!
